Tasting Notes
If you've heard the cliché about Rieslings "just being sweet", try this! This wine will make you re-think Riesling. NOSE: Uplifting lime zest, sweet basil and papaya.
PALATE: Key lime, green papaya, and Asian pear dominate with a hint of cantaloupe, mango and some slate. Full rich aftertaste which lingers nicely.
Vineyard Notes
100% Estate Vineyard - Summerland Lakefront.
The vineyard was planted in 2011 with cuttings from our original Okanagan Falls vineyard.
The vineyard is located right beside the winery building in the famous Trout Creek area. The whole Trout Creek area was formed by alluvial deposits riding the creek from the higher mountains. All the fertile soil washed down and created this small land thousands of years back - now included in the "Summerland Lakefront" Sub-GI - which is home to the winery, wine shop and vineyard.
Winemaker Notes
100% Riesling. Ferments only in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks so we can stop the fermentation to achieve the "natural rest sweetness" And that’s all the intervention we do as the wine making style is pretty much “less is more”. Bottled a few months later, all under screw cap to preserve freshness.
Food Pairing Notes
The off-dry wine is great with a variety of pork and seafood dishes, and that splash of sweetness can temper spicy foods, especially fiery Chinese or Thai dishes with chili peppers as ingredients. Ham, sausages and barbecue are also good matches. Our favorites are aged or sharp cheeses - Manchego, Blue Cheese, and Gruyere.
